Family Home Visiting

All parents want the best for their children, and we know you are one of those parents!  As you watch your child grow, our Family Home Visiting program provides the support and encouragement you need every step of the way.

Family Home Visiting is a free, voluntary program.  Not only will you get the support during your pregnancy and early years of parenting, you will get ideas about how to care for and play with your baby. There will be information to let you know how your baby is growing and developing, and we will help you to create a safe and caring home for your child. 

If you have questions, your nurse will help answer them. Your nurse helps you have a healthy pregnancy, gives you coaching on child development and empowers you to pursue your heart's desire. Your nurse will always be there for you, so you can be there for your baby!

Family home visiting staff in Clearwater, Hubbard and Lake of the Woods counties use the Healthy Families of America home visiting model.

• Healthy Families America (HFA) home visiting Model is designed to promote child well-being through family-focused and empathic support provided in the home.  Services begin prenatally or soon after the birth of a baby.  We use the Growing Great Kids curriculum and it lives up to its name by giving you exceptional infant-toddler activities to help your baby grow.  Learning can be fun.  We bring the “fun” into parenting by providing you with hands-on activities designed for your infant’s stage of life.

Clearwater county staff also offer the Family Spirit home visiting model.

• Family Spirit (FS) home visiting model is a culturally tailored, strengths-based core strategy designed to support young American Indian families. Parents gain knowledge and skills to achieve optimum development across the domains of physical, cognitive, social-emotional, language and self-help. FS goals are to increase parenting skills, address maternal psychosocial risks, prepare children for early school success, ensure well-child visits, link family to community services and promote skills needed across the lifespan.
